A DOPEY motorist has been stopped by police after they were spotted driving around with a ten-foot ladder hanging from the boot of their car.
The motorist was pulled over for having an insecure load on Mayo Avenue, Bradford, West Yorkshire, yesterday.
A copper spotted the motorist after spotting them driving along the busy main road with a massive ten-foot ladder hanging out the boot of their vehicle.
The motorist was quickly stopped and dealt with by a police officer on a motorbike who was left baffled at the driver’s stupidity.
The motorists’ insecure load was photographed by the motorbike copper after they pulled the dopey driver over.
The image shows the massive ladder hanging out the back of a small, white hatchback as it sits on the pavement after being pulled over.
The Volkswagen Golf is dwarfed by the ladder which has been poorly manoeuvred into the car and appears to be longer than the small vehicle.
With half the massive ladder hanging out of the back of the car the rest appears to be placed through the back seats stretching all the way into the front of the vehicle.
Bizarrely, a small white plastic bag has been tied around the end of the ladder by the motorist for some unexplained reason.
The image of the dopey motorists’ extremely insecure load was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “We couldn’t ignore this on Mayo Avenue earlier today.
“Driver of the Volkswagen Golf dealt with for having an insecure load.”
The post has since received over 130 likes and more than 15 comments from social media users left baffled at the motorists’ stupidity.
One user joked: “Would have been fine if [they] stuck Hi-Viz on the end of the ladder and turned-on hazard lights.”
Another quipped: “Had someone rung it in?”
A third commented: “Good grief. Obviously left their brain in bed this morning.”
Another added: “Seriously? Who with more than one working braincell thinks this is acceptable? Crazy.”
A fifth replied: “Oh my god. Least they tied a carrier bag to the end of the ladder.”
The punishment for driving with an insecure load is a £100 fine and up to three points, motorists could also be prosecuted if the load has caused an accident.
