THIS is the horrifying moment that a cyclist is sent flying through the air after colliding with a motorist – before sliding to a stop on a patch of grass.
The dramatic crash occurred as a driver waited to turn into their home in Braintree, Essex earlier this week as a cyclist came whizzing past.
The motorist is helpless to stop the collision with nowhere to turn on a narrow single lane road sending the cyclist flying before a crash landing on the concrete driveway.
Miraculously, the cyclist quickly gets to their feet and appears to be without major injuries as they rest their hands on their knees.
Video shows a small, red, Ford Ka pulling into a driveway with two large builder’s van seemingly blocking the view of the cyclist.
The cyclist, having apparently not seeing the car pull out in front of them, speeds along the pavement straight towards the vehicle.
As the driver finally gets a gap in the road to complete their turn, they quickly head up the driveway before the cyclist slams into the motor.
The point of contact sends the cyclist through the air completing two front flips before crashing to the ground around six feet from the initial incident.
Stunningly the cyclist manages to stand up after the violent collision and appears to be left in complete shock only able to rest their hands on their knees following the horror moment.
Their bike is left in a mangled heap on the floor with its wheels and frame left bent completely out of shape.
The CCTV footage of the dramatic collision was shared to social media earlier this week with the caption: “Whose fault?”
Social media users were left contemplating the incident but agreed that the cyclist should have paid more attention to their blind spot and the motorist was not at fault.
The footage received over 400 likes and over 1,000 comments from stunned social media users impressed that the cyclist stood up after such a violent crash.
One user said: “The cyclist should not have been on the pavement.”
Another added: “The very lucky young fella who walked away. Let’s hope he learned several lessons.”
A third said: “As a cyclist even when I’m on the cycling path I still slow down for blind spots like this because accidents can happen even if everyone has the best intention.”
Another commented: “Bloody hell, how fast was that cyclist going?”
