A SCOTS pub has been daubed with brutal graffiti demanding that its owner “pay your staff”.
The message was spotted on the window of Camerons in Glasgow on Tuesday night by a disgruntled artist.
The pub – formerly known as The Carnarvon – saw a change in hands last year after Reiss Williamson purchased the establishment and promised a complete makeover.
However, locals have now been left baffled by the message with some even promising a boycott – forcing Reiss himself to seemingly come forward, claiming he “gave up” the pub earlier this year.
An image shows the outside of Camerons, taken at night with no punters inside or outside the boozer.
The doors are locked, and no one is home, but on the window are spray painted the words:“Pay your staff.”
A local shared the photo on social media on Wednesday, writing: “Saw this on the walk home late last night.”
The post received over 250 likes, 112 shares and more than 80 shares as many – including someone claiming to be Reiss – shared their thoughts on the baffling message.
One person wrote: “Never going there again after having a ‘discretionary’ donation to a cancer charity added to my bill the last time I went.
“Great, so I’m made to look and feel like a d**k because I disagree in principle with discretionary charges and asked to get it removed, even more so because it’s related to cancer.
“Complete d**k-head move. Was totally fuming after that.”
Another said: “Shame. Went in when it first opened, and the new owner was proper sound.
“Spoke to him about potentially coming in midweek for shifts but didn’t materialise. Dodged a bullet clearly.”
A third commented: “I go in every other week before or after Thistle games. It’s a wee woman who runs it. She also runs one near Hampden.
“Seems like she only took over around three or four months ago and it’s part of some chain that I’ve never seen before.”
Another added: “We have absolutely no evidence that this business doesn’t pay their staff.
“If this is the case, however, then by all means get them f*****g chased.”
A social media user claiming to be Reiss wrote: “Hi guys. So, I am the old manager everyone is referring to.
“I have been made aware of this by friends and just wanted to clear a few things up. I gave up the pub around two months ago and have [had] no involvement in it since.
“All staff that I had working for me were close friends and family, with the exception of a couple of staff who didn’t have shifts for a long while before we left and were paid in full for any shifts.
“I left because I was personally having to work around 70-80 hours a week to make it work and it was taking a massive toll on both mine and my family’s lives.
“People have linked this to me purely through someone posting my companies house link.
“I can completely understand people’s frustrations if the new owners are not paying staff but I would appreciated (sic) if people could stop directing it towards me.”
They added: “Anyone talking about having additional charges for cancer charities, etc, added to their tab are either mistaking the pub for somewhere else or just talking complete nonsense.
“I think we gave out around six tabs in the entire time we were there and this was for large groups booking the snugs.
“There isn’t even a button on the till to add on gratuities or charity, so any claims there were, are completely fictional.
”A spokesperson for Admiral Taverns, commented: “We are aware of the situation at the Camerons in Glasgow and are currently investigating this.”
