THIS is the heart stopping moment that scaffolding collapses sending two workers tumbling into the path of an oncoming car.
The two men had been working on a row of buildings in High Street, Buckingham earlier this week when the disaster occurred.
Dashcam footage captures the moment that the worker’s man-made structure begins to wobble before collapsing sending the two men and their steel structure fall into an unsuspecting motorist on the road.
As the Vauxhall Zafira passes a pelican crossing just before one o’clock on Wednesday the scaffolders are hidden behind a white Mercedes van before coming into view.
Lauren Sadler shared the video online yesterday showing the structure toppling and one of the workers dressed in an orange hi-vis vest makes a brave attempt at resetting the scaffolding but his attempts prove unsuccessful.
His two colleagues for a moment are almost horizontal hanging 15 feet in the air with gravity against them both.
The men brace themselves as they realise the scaffolding is taking them down to the road below at a quick speed with little time to protect their bodies.
One of the men who was on top of the scaffolding and an additional ladder takes the brunt of the fall as he tumbles, losing his grip on the ladder and slams off the road.
His ladder thumps the top of the Vauxhall before smacking him in the ribs but incredibly both men quickly jump up and dust themselves off seemingly with no apparent injuries.
Later in the day, Lauren discovered the scaffolders had not learnt their lesson about health and safety with the structure being balanced on a coiled extension lead.
Lauren shared the shocking clip to social media yesterday with the caption: “People in this town lack a few brain cells.”
The video received 4,800 likes and hundreds of comments from social media users stunned at the dopey workers’ hapless construction skills.
One said: “I’ve watched this about 5 times, Jesus Christ, lucky lads.”
Another added: “Always take health and safety seriously, this is unbelievable.”
A third joked: “How the hell did that happen when they were wearing hi vis jackets?”
Another commented: “A ladder on top of a scaffold tower, yeah that will work.”
