Brits left unimpressed after police officers caught parking illegally to grab a snack

BRITS have been left unimpressed after police officers were caught parking illegally to grab a snack whilst on the job.

The pair of cheeky coppers were caught on camera yesterday nipping into a Popeyes chicken restaurant in West Ealing, West London.

However, one eagle-eyed onlooker spotted the officers’ shoddy parking job, pointing out that the van was left parked on double yellow lines.

The video begins with the unnamed cameraman filming a male and female police officer crossing the road in the capital and entering the restaurant.

As they enter, the camera pans back round to the other side of the street and zooms out to reveal that their police van is parked on double yellow lines in a 24-hour bus lane.

The man behind the camera then pans around again to reveal that behind the police vehicle, a crowd of delivery drivers are parked, with all of their mopeds and motorcycles similarly parked on double yellows.

Despite the law-breaking, the police officers don’t seem to be in any rush to reprimand the drivers or correct their own parking.

The cameraman alleges that he spoke to other officers in the van about the delivery drivers but claims he was told that their illegal parking was a “civil matter”, and that they would not be dealing with it.

The outraged bloke shared the footage to social media yesterday, writing: “Ealing Broadway. Surely the Met Police couldn’t have anything in common with Deliverooist’s could they?

“Bizarrely, it turns out they do. First, both are illegally parked in a ‘No loading at any time’ 24hr bus lane. Next, an interest in takeaways and finally idling.”

The footage has since received dozens of likes and comments from social media users left unimpressed with the officers’ behaviour.

One user wrote: “Unfortunately the same wherever you go. Our local ambulance service park where they want ‘just in case’, but still wander around Waitrose.”

Another added: “The Police can and often do what they want. The law does not apply to them.”

A third wrote: “Do some policing, or are you of the opinion that’s not my job, that’s a Parking Attendant’s job, that is, nothing to see here, there are no yellow lines.”

Another commented “Continuing ineptness, criminality & abrogation of responsibility by certain members of Met Police.”

Met Police have been contacted for comment.
