THIS is the terrifying moment thugs broke into a single mum’s house with violent demands for cash.
Shannon Henderson’s home in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear was broken into at around 10:20pm last Wednesday as she lay in bed with daughter Lilly by two burglars.
The 24-year-old pleaded with one of the unidentified thugs who threatened her life before she managed to escape with Lilly and take refuge in a local shop.
Despite police attending the scene, the two burglars managed to flee and remain at large, with Shannon desperate to find the two criminals that left her “petrified”.
Terrifying footage captured by a Ring doorbell shows two people dressed in hooded jackets approaching Shannon’s home in the Fulwell area of Sunderland.
Their faces are obscured by hoods as the first burglar enters through the garden gate and holds it open for a moment whilst his accomplice stands across the street.
The second thug then terrifyingly charges towards the camera and hurls himself at the door, which bursts open, allowing the man to push his way inside.
His accomplice remains outside, keeping watch for prying eyes, whilst his accomplice can be heard confronting an audibly terrified Shannon inside.
Chilling audio hears the man growl, “Come here” as Shannon yells and pleads: “No please, don’t hurt me.”
The man demands, “Give me your money now”, before Shannon shakily repeats: “I haven’t got any money.”
The man repeats his demand, but Shannon insists that she has no cash to give him, before heartbreakingly adding: “My little girl’s in bed.”
Shannon continues to plead and repeat that she doesn’t have any money to give the man, before he appears to say: “I don’t want to kill you.”
Shannon once again shouts that she does not have any money before scuffling can be heard and she appears to try and escape.
The footage was posted online by Mac CCTV last week with the caption: “Attempted robbery last night, Dent Street in Fulwell, Sunderland.
“Door kicked through and they demanded money with threats to kill.
“This is a single mum home alone with baby as you can see in video – attended scene and downloaded footage for police due to severity of the situation.
“Luckily, mother and baby are fine as they took refuge in a local shop. Check your CCTV and any info, message our pages or Northumbria Police.
“Between 10:15 and 10:25pm.”
The post received over 350 likes and more than 300 comments from locals left horrified by the upsetting footage.
Brooklyn Landers wrote: “The justice system is absolute shambles in this country, and this is exactly why people think they can do this because they have nothing to fear anymore.
“I hope that lass and her little one is okay.”
Wendy Hall said: “One knocks on the door, one runs at the door and the other one walks away. The one walking away, just walks away if not having anything to do with it.”

Shannon wrote in a post the following day: “I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has commented or reached out to me regarding the other night.
“It was honestly the most petrifying thing I’ve ever been through but thankfully me and Lilly got out quickly and safely.
“I don’t know who they are or why they are there but because of how quick they came out it is more than likely mistaken identity and they quickly realised they got the wrong house.
“I really appreciate everyone who’s commented or shared the post. Hopefully they are caught soon and don’t put anyone else through this.”
A Northumbria Police spokesperson today said: “Just after 10:20pm last Wednesday, police received a report of burglary at an address on Dent Street in Sunderland.
“Enquires are into the report are ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact us via 101, or the ‘Report’ pages of our website, quoting log NP-20240103-1065.”
