Drag artist shares awkward moment they were ID’d whilst in full make-up

A DRAG ARTIST has shared the awkward moment they were asked for ID in Tesco – whilst dressed in full drag for their show.

Matthew Pryor-Morgan had just finished their performance at Glory nightclub in Haggerston, East London earlier this month.

The 25-year-old from Enfield, North London was fully made-up as their alter ego Bev, the alien queen from the planet Bloo when they opted to enter Tesco for some lemonade and refill their vape pen.

However, social media manager Matthew ran into trouble when they arrived at the till of the Tesco metro store.

Staff requested to see identification due to the purchase of the vape pen and Matthew was left bemused by the interaction as staff couldn’t be sure they were who they said.

The drag queen went as far as producing their Instagram account to prove to staff that it was their ID.

In the video, Matthew can be seen coming out of the Tesco and explaining the situation, saying: “I just got ID’d for a vape at Tesco, what the f**k.

“It’s not gonna look like me is it?”

The video has been liked more than 200,000 times with more than a thousand comments left by amused viewers.

One wrote: “I think they may have just been curious about what you look like on a “normal” day.”

Another said: “I always do insane makeup when I go out clubbing and when they ask for ID I just stand there like “I promise I’m that guy underneath all this.”

A third added: “Did he at least follow you on insta after?”

Speaking today Matthew said: “I went to the Tesco there as I needed to pick up some lemonade and my vape had run out.

“I was waiting by the till and the man was very shocked at what I looked like.

“I asked for the vape and he asked for my ID.

“At first I was massively confused because I never get ID’d anymore and then I said you can look at it but you won’t look it won’t look like me so he looked and said he didn’t know [if it was me].

“So I had to get my normal Instagram up to show him I am me.

“He asked am I going to a party and I said no I just am really obsessed with lava lamp, I just paid for everything then went home.”

As described by the venue, The Glory the show Other Worlds is a drag cabaret show that will transport viewers to different dimensions of time and space.
