SCOTTISH law firm Lindsays has strengthened its employment law team with the appointment of a new director.

Daniel Gorry has recently been employed by Lindsays.

His appointment has been announced just weeks after Lindsays made six internal promotions across its departments in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.

It also comes ahead of a deal coming into effect on May 31 which will see Miller Hendry – which has offices in Perth, Crieff and Dundee – merge with the firm.

Mr Gorry, who has 16 years of legal experience and has worked in all aspects of employment law, will be based at Lindsays’ Glasgow offices.

Ben Doherty, Partner and Head of Employment Law at Lindsays, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Daniel to the team.

“He’s a fantastic catch. To have someone of his experience join our ranks will further strengthen our services for clients.

“Employers face no shortage of challenges at the moment, which require careful and considered counsel, from issues linked to the legacy of Covid-19 and the cost of doing business crisis to the impact of Brexit.

“Daniel, alongside our wider team, is perfectly positioned to support clients with that.”

Mr Gorry’s background includes advising on complex company restructures, as well as developing an in-depth knowledge of the education and leisure sectors.

He said: “It’s great to be part of the team at Lindsays. The firm has a terrific reputation in employment law and I’ve known of Ben and his work for some time.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to join at a time of growth.

“Lindsays is an institution in the Scottish legal sector and is well regarded, which was another attraction.

“While continuing to grow, it has retained its own identity.

“The myriad of legal issues affecting employers and staff – often rapidly evolving – means the need for professional advice has never been greater.

“I am looking forward to helping the team grow further as we support increasing numbers of businesses and people.”

Mr Gorry has appeared in employment and appeal tribunal cases involving issues including disability status, sex discrimination and TUPE regulations.
