AN AMAZON customer has blasted the retailer after a courier delivered her £200 package to a hanging basket outside her home.
Gilly Townsend shared an “unbelievable” snap showing the item perched 6ft up in the air outside her home in Burnley, Lancashire.
The high-value item had been dumped on top of the hanging basket on Tuesday [20 Oct], squashing Gilly’s flowers in the process.
The package, which contained a Fitbit Versa 3, was meant to be a birthday gift from her husband.
To make matters worse, the driver marked the parcel as “Handed to Reception” on their tracking system, leaving Gilly baffled.
The furious customer took to Amazon’s Facebook page to complain on Tuesday [20 Oct] following the botched delivery.
She shared the snap and said: “Well done to the Amazon delivery driver who put this parcel (expensive parcel too) in the hanging basket with no notification.
“Good job I looked up!”
The photo has caused disbelief among social media users.
Lydia Gibbings wrote: “Idiot.”
Emma Collings added: “Your poor squished flowers!”
And Claire McNulty said: “That’s unbelievable!”
Speaking today, [MON] Gilly said that Amazon has since apologised to her.
She explained: “It was my husband’s package. He had ordered me a Fitbit Versa 3.
“He works away all week so I wasn’t expecting a package, as he got it as a birthday surprise.
“I have had an apology from Amazon and they said they will take appropriate action with the driver, but can’t tell me anymore.”
An Amazon spokeswoman said: “We have very high standards for our delivery partners and expect every package to be handled with care.
“We’ve notified the right teams internally and will work with the customer directly on matters related to their package delivery.”
