Self-contained, separately ventilated salons offering safer setting for post pandemic pampering

Scottish entrepreneur, Roz Colthart has created a business, which puts self-containment, privacy and most importantly safety at the top of the agenda, when it comes to delivering post-pandemic to hair and beauty treatments.

With government advice stipulating the importance of shielding groups taking extra steps to lower their risk of catching coronavirus, the Salon Studios business model offers the perfect solution to post-pandemic pampering.

Those feeling anxious over COVID or who may fall into higher risk categories, as well as those who simply wish to have more control, now have the option to reduce their exposure to the masses.

A re-invention of traditional salon ownership, Salon Studios provides self-contained, separately ventilated studios.

A re-invention of traditional salon ownership, Salon Studios provide self-contained, separately ventilated studios.

This allows both self-employed salon professionals and their customers to meet in a much more controlled way, in an environment that can be fully cleaned between customers.

Roz Colthart, founder of Salon Studios said: “For most of us, a trip to the hair or beauty salon is a luxury – a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and top up on some much needed ‘us’ time.

“It’s so important that people can continue with their pre-lock down treatments, safe in the knowledge that they’re receiving these in the safest way possible.

“Installing separate ventilation systems for each of our units has been a huge investment, but we feel so strongly that this is the way forward for the beauty industry.

“The way we have set up our spaces means that there is no chance whatsoever of cross-contamination between any of our treatment rooms and this for some may make the difference between feeling safe or not.”

Colthart was recently shortlisted for Fashion and Beauty Entrepreneur of the year in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Previously working on a month-to-month basis with a fixed weekly rate, she is adapting to the changing climate by now offering a shorter lease and a low weekly fee.

Based in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, each salon space comes with water and electricity costs, a PPL music licence, health and safety assessment, fire management program, rubbish collection, high-speed wifi, public area cleaning, CCTV security and 24-hour access as standard.
