Aldi apologise to customer who found “cow’s eyelid” in mince meat

The clump of meat appeared to have eyelashes attached

ALDI has apologised to a customer after he discovered a “cow’s eyelid” inside his packet of minced beef.

Harry West from Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey was left in “disbelief” when he spotted the clump of “eyelashes” on 16 June.

The 28-year-old shared revolting photos on social media yesterday [Tue] which show the supposed eyelid next to the open packet of £2.39 mince.

The image shows a flesh-coloured lump with what appears to be long, dark hairs attached.

A disgusted Harry took to social media to warn other shoppers about the mince.

Harry says he noticed the unusual object after sitting down to eat

He posted the photos with the caption: “After waiting a week to be contacted I find it within my right to show consumers of your products what I found in a packet of your mince.

“What looks to be the eyelid from hopefully a cow. This was in a packet of your 15% fat beef mince dated the 16th June.

“I have yet to be contacted by head office but I am extremely disgusted with it, especially as that should definitely not be in the mince.

“Hopefully this will speed up the process to be contacted, I also still have the packaging with the eyelid.

“Everyone feel free to share, god knows what else has actually been put in there.”

Harry West was left disgusted

Harry’s post has disgusted social media users.

Billy Hardy wrote: “Eeeer” with a vomiting emoji.

Adrian Griffiths added: “It’s only 15% beef mince. What’s the other 85%.? Keep your eyes open.”

And Trent Philips joked: “Not to be winked at.”

Speaking today, pipe fitter Harry said: “I was just sat down to eat dinner.

“I only had one mouthful and then spotted that.

“I fished it out and couldn’t actually believe what it was.

The photos sickened social media users

“It made me feel sick, it makes you question what else is in it.

“I’m waiting for someone from Aldi to contact me.

“I’ve sent them an email with the pictures also a Facebook message with no response hence why I made the status, as I feel this should have been taken care of quicker.”

Aldi has since apologised and Harry revealed he has been offered £50 as a goodwill gesture.

An Aldi spokeswoman said: “Our supplier has robust processes in place to prevent foreign objects from entering production.

“We have apologised to Mr West that this product didn’t meet our usual high standards and have provided him with a full refund.”
