Andrew Robertson -from an amateur team to being one of the best left-backs in the world

The 2019-2020 season which was suspended in March amid the fears of Covid-19 will resume on June 17, allowing the fans to enjoy matches, but fans will not be allowed to attend them.

Before the season was suspended, Liverpool was leading the table with 25 points. After 30 years without a title, Liverpool fans will finally be able to see their team winning the championship – of course, it seems impossible that the team will squander such a huge lead.

The success of Liverpool was greatly due to the fantastic display from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.

The latter especially became a prominent figure in the club. In this article, we will talk about Robertson’s career from his early years to becoming one of the best Scottish players nowadays.

The fairy tale of Robertson

The fate of Andrew Robertson is like a fairy tale. A few years ago, he was at the back of the football world, speaking for the amateur team of the Scottish fourth division, about to quit his favorite job and go to study. And today he is an integral part of Liverpool and enters the field against the best football players on the planet.

Despite his youth, Robertson does not look ripe on the football field. Playing the left defender, he is equally good both in defense and in the attack.

The last 3 years have been extraordinarily eventful for Andrew, and that is. A little more than 2 years ago, an 18-year-old boy played in front of a couple of hundred spectators when his Queens Park (not to be confused with Queens Park Rangers) met with Annan Athletic in March 2013.

Now he enters the fields of legendary stadiums, taking part in fights with great clubs, which are watched by tens of thousands of fans in the stands and millions of viewers on TV screens.

What’s more, he also became a role model in his native Scotland, where every citizen sees him as a hope for the national team.

Even though he is not a striker, the energy and chances he brings to the team are enormous. Being a successful and noticeable player in the country, had its toll on the gambling industry as well, where online casino deposit bonuses started to feature Robertson as the “primary guy”.

If we take into account the marketing strategy of various casinos, it was not unexpected considering the fact he enjoys incredible popularity not only in Scotland but in the United Kingdom as well.

Andrew, or as he is often called Andy Robertson, was born March 11, 1994, in the tiny town of Giffnock, located 10 miles from Glasgow. He became interested in football early on, and one of his first impressions was the World Cup in France.

He began his football career with the local Giffnock team and then ended up in one of the two largest Scottish clubs, Celtic. Having stayed in the Celtic system for several years, Andrew was expelled from the team at the age of 15 due to his short stature and weak physique.

Many drop their hands after this: Celtic, along with the Rangers is the pinnacle of Scottish football, and to be rejected by one of the grandees is a huge blow to pride, especially in adolescence.

Failure had a completely different effect on Andrew. It gave him the determination to succeed without fail.

In his hometown, he studied at a local school, in the same one that Aiden McGeady attended several years earlier, who later played for Celtic and Spartak Moscow.

In his final year, Andrew was appointed captain of the school team. However, one of the most striking events in Andrew’s youth career was a school football tournament.

Celtic’s impact on Andy

Andy declares that he is grateful to Celtic for expulsions and he would not have become who he is now.

In all the tournaments in the season 2013/2014, Andrew took part in 44 matches, scored 5 goals, and gave 6 assists. In the championship, he scored 3 goals and 6 assists.

Dundee took 4th place in the league, 41 points behind the first and 10 behind the second. The team also reached the final of the Scottish Cup, defeating the Rangers 3:1 in the semifinals.

Together with the club, Andrew also spent an impressive season, having received a lot of compliments from the press and experts. Some of them materialized into prizes.

So, in the fall of 2013, Andrew was named the young player of the month in September, and then the player of the month in November. In the spring, at the end of the championship, he won the Young Player of the Year nomination.

Success at the club level helped him in October 2013 to get a call to the Scottish national team U-21, and on October 10, 2013, he made his debut for her in the game against Slovakia. In total, for the U-21 team, Andrew has since participated in 3 matches.

But this was not the end of the matter. In the spring of 2014, Andrew received a call to the national team, on March 5, taking part in a friendly match with the Poles.

He has already played 5 games for the country’s main team, scoring 2 goals in them.

Premier League debut

At the end of the season, Robertson left the Scottish Championship and on July 29, 2014, and moved to Hull City. At that time he was only 20 years old. According to the press, the British side paid 2.85 million pounds for the transfer of the young Scotsman.

In the English Premier League, Andrew made his debut on August 16, 2014. Despite his youth and lack of experience of meetings at this level, he fit perfectly into the team of Steve Bruce. In total, in the first year in the Premier League, Robertson appeared 23 times on the field, amassing two assists.

Andrew, in a short time, made a huge, truly incredible leap in his career, achieving incredible success. A little more than a year passed between the performance of the young Scotsman for the club of the fourth division under the amateur contract and the first game for the national team.

Right now he is a part of the Champions League winner side Liverpool and is very close to winning the Premier League title. While everyone was suspicious of his signing, now they can say nothing, because Andy proved everyone wrong.
