Dobbies raise over half a million pounds for Teenage Cancer Trust

THE UK’s largest garden centre chain has raised over £549,000 for its National charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Staff members from all of Dobbies’ stores took part in various fundraising events throughout the year.

The company announced last year Teenage Cancer Trust as its first ever national charity partner after joining up with them previously over several successful Christmas fundraising periods.

Dobbies customers took part in nationwide events such as the recent Christmas charity night, Santa’s Arrival and their ladies night, which took place across all Dobbies stores leading up to the festive season.

All 69 of Dobbies’ stores took part from carrier bag purchases, individual store led activities and nationwide events.

Some members of the central support office took part in the 3 Peaks Challenge.

Graeme Jenkins, Chief Executive at Dobbies Garden Centres, said: “We take great pride in our ongoing partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust and this achievement of raising over £500,000 for the charity is something truly special for everyone at Dobbies.

“A mix of hard work and creative ideas from across the Dobbies team has made this possible and we look forward to continuing these efforts over the festive period.”

Christine Jason, Head of Regional Fundraising in the North for Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 are diagnosed with cancer.

“Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist nurses, hospital wards and support teams work hard to help young people and their families cope with the huge impact that a cancer diagnosis and treatment has on their lives.  But none of this work would be possible without our wonderful supporters.

“We absolutely love working with both team members and customers at every Dobbies store, and we are ecstatic about reaching this incredible milestone through our partnership with them. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped raise such an incredible sum of money.”

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the seven young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer every day.
