A MOTORCYCLIST has posted graphic images of the horrific life-changing injuries he suffered when he was struck by a hit-and-run motorist.
An X-ray shows how Lincoln Barrett’s smashed ankle is held together by metal screws and plates while another snap shows the bloody mess his face was left in.
The 28-year-old from Chadderton, Greater Manchester, was hit by a car in Manchester city centre on Friday morning.
The contracts manager posted the pictures to social media with the caption: “Appeal for information. On the 24th April at approx 07.00 on the junction (Old mill st & Store St ) Ancoats I was hit by a car.
“The driver drove off without any hesitation leaving me with life changing injuries. The car a small light blue must have marks along the driver’s door from my bike.
“If you know of a car like this? Or can help with any information Contact me. I consider myself lucky as I’m still here.”
He added: “The next person they hit might not be as lucky! And could be someone you know. Help me catch this person. Please share the information.”
Lincoln revealed post surgery X-ray pictures of his ankle which shows the extent of repairs carried out during six hours of surgery.
Other photos show the damage done to Lincoln’s ankle as well as his face which was scraped across the ground despite him wearing a helmet.
Adam Roberts responded: “Hope you are feeling better big fella. Someone will know who that c***weasel is.”
Tom Walsh added: “Hope you get a swift recovery and they find the person.”
Angie Hutchinson wrote: “Hope your feeling better Lincoln, and I hope they get the dirty scumbags who did this.”
Lincoln’s wife, Nicola, 47, told local media: “It’s changed his life, really. Hopefully he will be able to walk again properly.
“I just think it’s heartless to drive off even though they know what they have done, to leave him without knowing what injuries they have caused.
“It’s unbelievable people would do that. They obviously knew what they had done and not to stop to see if he is OK is unbelievable.
“It’s going to be a long recovery.”
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “Officers were called to a ‘fail to stop’ crash on Great Ancoats Street at the junction of Old Mill Street at about 7.30am on Friday.
“Witnesses have told police the car which sped away from the scene was a blue Ford Fiesta.
“GMP has appealed for witnesses to come forward and anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 355 of April 26.
“Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”
