Jet2 holidaymaker posts “Greek chic” brochure image of hotel room and “hostel” reality

The hotel advertised luxurious, well-lit rooms with stunning sea or garden views.

A HOLIDAYMAKER has shared hilarious pictures showing the snazzy room he was promised in the brochure and the drab reality.

Peter Smith shared a Jet2 snap showing a room “oozing Greek chic and sophistication” including jazzy modern lighting and wall decorations.

The health and safety manager then posted his own snap of what he actually found – beds pushed into a corner, beige sheets, and a lack of atmospheric lighting.

Peter, 56, described the reality he found at the Gaia In Style, Tingaki, Kos, as like a “hostel”. He says a rep later admitted the room had been used as a “cleaning store”.

He and his wife, Amanda, paid £1,800 for their all-inclusive 28th wedding anniversary getaway with Jet2.

When Peter got to his room he felt like he had been tricked.

Peter, from Thurlton, Norfolk, took to Jet2’s Facebook page to post the pictures, writing: “First picture is from your website and what I booked, second picture is what I got after apparently being ‘upgraded’ to a sea view room.

“I know not all the rooms will be identical but our room is like a room in a hostel compared to the picture on the website.

“Spoke to customer service and the hotel, got nowhere.

“We are putting up in it as we’re only sleeping in the room, but feel we have been tricked.”

The room, which a Jet2 rep claimed to be a former cleaning closet, was no better than a hostel room.

Speaking today, Peter said: “The hotel were adamant that this was their standard room and suggested the only difference was the colour!”

Peter, who described the rest of the hotel and Jet2’s handling of his complaint as “superb”, added: “It has been suggested by the Jet2 rep [it] was an old cleaning store room.

“It is quite unbelievable that the hotel could create and suggest that the first room is the same as the others.

“Jet2 noted that the first room must not be allocated to their customers.”

Peter and Amanda Smith were on a two week getaway for their 28th wedding anniversary.

A Jet 2 spokeswoman said: “Our team has been in touch with Peter and moved him to another room, which he is happy with.

“The images on our website accurately represent the different types of room available at this hotel.”
