AN amazing picture shows a cloud in the shape of Scotland that appeared above Edinburgh earlier this week.
The cloud, bathed in the orange glow of sunset, materialised in an otherwise mostly clear sky on Monday.
The appearance of the cloud came the day before Theresa May’s historic Brexit deal failure and some Scots couldn’t resist seeing it as a sign.
Nikki Paterson, from the Leith area of the city, was among those to photograph the cloud.
East coast features such as the Firth of Forth and Moray Firth are unmissable. The sky map also has Cape Wrath at the north-western tip and Duncansby Head in the north-east. There even seems to be an approximation of the rugged west coast.
One viewer wrote: “It’s a sign after what happened in Westminster today.”
Another added: “Maybe send it to Nicola Sturgeon, it’s an omen.”

Nikki today said every time she glanced at the cloud she felt it looked more and more like Scotland.
Nikki said: “I was in my house chatting with friends and looked out the window and had a split second thought it looked like Scotland, had to snap a picture of it because the more I looked at it the more it looked like Scotland.”
Another woman also posted a photo on the page with her photo of the Scotland cloud saying: “I took this at Seafield yesterday.”
Her photo shows the Scotland cloud to have that same orange glow as it was captured through a group of trees.
It is not the first time Scotland has appeared in the clouds.
In 2016, plane passengers returning to Scotland were greeted by a cloud with the outline of Scotland.
Jill Taylor took a photo from her window which captured Scotland, and parts of North England and even Northern Ireland and Wales.
