Scottish couple praised for £9m restoration of castle put their own luxurious mansion on market

A SCOTTISH couple who spent £9m transforming a 14th Century castle into a 5 star luxury hotel have now put up their own luxurious family home up for sale.

The property offers seven acres

Steve Timoney and Alison Reid-Timoney’s Georgian property boasts a 12-metre air-conditioned swimming pool, bar, cinema, stables and a hot tub for eight – all for £1.9m.

The Timoneys were widely praised after buying and restoring 14th Century Crossbasket Castle in High Blantyre, South Lanarkshire in 2011. The castle was on Scotland’s Buildings at Risk Register but is now a successful luxury hotel and wedding venue.

Pictures of their own home, Bothwellpark House, in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire, show the couple lavished the same care and attention on extensive refurbishment after buying in 2006.
