Moment yob driver gives the finger to motorist who tried to stop him driving on footpath

A BRASS-NECKED driver has been filmed making an obscene gesture to a motorist who tried to stop him driving on the pavement.

Stewart Frodsham was stuck in a traffic jam and refused to move so that the yob could take to the footpath in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

Despite that, the careless driver managed to force his way on to the pavement and flipped the bird to a shocked Stewart, 45.

Stewart, a video producer from Orrell, near Wigan, filmed the shocking clip last Tuesday, at around 8.15am.

The clip begins with Stewart sitting at a standstill, with his dashcam looking at the car in front.

There is a small gap where the pavement lines the road on the left hand side.

A silver vehicle can be seen slowly creeping past on the left.

As the driver of the car comes into view, his window rolled down having spoken to Stewart, he gives him the middle finger.

The abusive driver incredibly undertakes along the pavement

He then mouths something angrily as he looks back at Stewart.

He continues to drive on, over the pavement, and past the line of traffic on his right, with a row of houses on his left.

Speaking today (Mon), Stewart said: “I noticed this vehicle creeping up my nearside then he stopped alongside me and signalled for me to wind down my window, and I duly obliged.

He asked if I would mind moving over toward the middle of the road so he could get past to which I replied: “Why? Where are you going to go? You can’t drive down the footpath.”

On his way past, the man dishes out a hand signal

“He told me it was none of my business, proceeded to squeeze through.

“Once past me he flicked his middle finger towards me and sped off down the pavement.”

A spokesman for SWD Media, a road safety website who obtained the footage, said: “The sheer audacity shown by this driver is exactly why there are so many road rage incidents on Britain’s roads daily.

“It’s shocking that he would ask another motorist to help him break the law, and then direct a torrent of abuse towards him when he didn’t get his approval.

The marks on his car indicate how close he may have been

“By the look of the dents on the driver side of the car this may not be the first time he has driven off road through tight spaces.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said they did not have any record any incident at the time and place.
