SHOCKING video shows joyriders wreck six vehicles following a high-speed smash in a quiet residential street.
The clip shows the speeding car sideswipe a van which is pulling out into the road.
The out-of-control Peugot 206 crashes into two parked vehicles before coming to a stop amid a cloud of debris, while the van is shunted into another two vehicles on the other side of the road.
Three young men – one of them with an apparent leg injury – are seen running away from the scene of devastation in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, on Saturday morning.
Carmine Rizzo, a mechanic, captured the incident on a CCTV system overlooking the town’s Trinity Road.
The video initially shows a quiet and residential setting with parked cars on either side of the road.
As the van begins to edge its way into the road, the blue Peugot appears driving a well over the 30mph limit. The impact causes the van to hit another parked van which in turn is shunted into a parked car. On the other side of the street, the Peugot wrecks a further two parked cars.
Carmine posted to Facebook saying: “Can anyone identify the person who owns this car he’s just smashed into several cars down trinity road in southchurch and ran off.”
Viewers expressed their outrage on social media.
Peter Partington said: “Peel them and dip them in vinegar.”
Paul Charles Maidment said: “The d***head was speeding and causes all that damage. He knew he was guilty cos he ran off .
Gavin J. Howells said: “Got to be a complete half-wit to do that.”
Mark Pillock Graves said: “Car doesn’t even seem to be braking!”
Craig Lowe said: “An absolute disregard for safety or anyone else.”
Others claimed the driver of the van should take the blame, including Chris Prime who wrote: “To be fair, van driver at fault for pulling out.”
Essex Police have confirmed they are looking into the incident.
A spokeswoman said: “Officers from our Local Policing Team are investigating an incident in Southend, which left four cars badly damaged.
“We were called at around 7.15am with reports that a blue car had driven into a number of vehicles in Trinity Road.
“The occupants of the blue Peugeot were reported to have left the vehicle and run from the scene.
“Police attended, and nobody was injured.
“The car has been forensically recovered and enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible for the damage.”
Earlier this month, footage emerged of a biker smashing into a five year-old girl in Greater Manchester, and continued to drive along the pavement.
