FOOTAGE shows brazen thugs try to steal a motorbike from outside the owner’s front door in broad daylight – as the occupants shout and film them.
Ignoring warnings that the police are on their way, the gang use an angle grinder to try to remove a lock on the £6,500 bike.
And when they do give up, one of the crooks takes revenge by casually smashing windows on a car parked outside the same property.
The raid was filmed in Carshalton, London, yesterday by Shaun Thompson, who lives at the property with his parents. The footage has been viewed over one million times.
Shaun posted the footage to YouTube writing: “These guys have tried to steal my bike for the 3rd time this week! I am f****** steaming!”
He filmed the four-strong gang – all wearing motorcycle helmets – from an open upstairs window.
Two members of the men approach the bike as residents shout to them: “Gotcha. Oi the police are coming. F*** off, get away.”
Apparently unperturbed, the thieves pull the cover off the bike and begin trying to get it free.
Shaun shouts down at them: “You ain’t getting that off, trust me.”
Despite the warning, one of the men starts to attack a lock with an angle grinder, causing a shower of sparks.
One of his accomplices seems to point out a second lock at which point the gang decide to give up on the Yamaha MT07.
Still acting without any sense of urgency or fear, one of the gang takes a hammer and smashes two windows on Shaun’s father’s car before they make off on two bikes.
Shaun said today: “I was in disbelief that they felt the could do this twice in broad daylight. The confidence they have is unbelievable. I wanted to go out there, but at the same time, anything could happen.”
He revealed that on the two previous occasions he discussed the attempted theft of his bike with the thieves as it was happening.
He wrote online: “The first day was Monday 26th at 4pm (three boys). The guy even told me I was lucky I had a disc lock on it. Second day was Friday 30th at Midnight (two boys).
“Again, I was told I was lucky I had a lock but the idiot didn’t think to check if I had a lock on my rear tyre.”
On social media, Derek Morton wrote: “They’ll be back for it!”
Robyn Froom wrote: “And they are probably nicking another one right now! Scumbags need dealing with properly.”
Patricia Clegg wrote: “You did the right thing by not going outside. There were four of them. Thugs!”

London Metropolitan police figures show that between July 2016 and June 2017 there were 14,943 thefts of “powered two-wheel vehicles”.
In January, Sadiq Khan tweeted saying: “More than 23,430 crimes were committed using motorcycles in London last year.
“I’m working with @metpoliceuk to tackle moped crime – but it’s time for manufacturers to step up and design anti-theft measures into their vehicles to help keep Londoners safe.”
He came under fire for putting the blame to manufacturers for motorcycle theft.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at around 17:45hrs on Sunday, 1 April, to the rider of a motorcycle being threatened with a hammer in Peterborough Road, Carshalton.
“The suspects made off prior to the arrival of police.
“Officers from Sutton are investigating. There has been no arrest.”
