Police mock dopey dealers who left cannabis plants by the roadside

DOPEY drug dealers have been mocked by police after they left £400-worth of cannabis plants at the side of the road.

Officers tweeted a picture of the two plants in front of a police van, and asked if the had confused them with Christmas trees.

The two cannabis plants were found in bin bags filled with soil in Rosyth, Fife, yesterday (WED).

A spokeswoman for the force confirmed the find, and noted that if the owners wish to claim them they should get in touch.

The illegal plants were found by the side of Castlandhill Road, and are estimated to be worth £200 each by officers.

The force tweeted the photo with the caption: “Found at the side of the road in Rosyth this afternoon.

“Did somebody get their cannabis plants confused with Christmas trees and throw the wrong thing out after the festive season?

“Easy mistake I suppose. Safely lodged with us. #OpProspect #Sigh #WhatADope #ToBeDestroyed”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Rosyth received a report of cannabis plants worth around £200 each having been left at the side of Castlandhill Road on Wednesday 10th January.

“Officers collected them and will arrange for their destruction.

“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The force’s spokeswoman added: “If the owners wish to claim them, we’d ask them to get in touch.”

Social media users ran with the post and couldn’t resist joking around.

Rachel Deller said: “They’ll be trying to smoke some Christmas tree later.”

Ceri joked: “Awwww that’s sad. A cannabis plant is for life, not just Christmas.”

While Taxi Kev commented: “Total cruelty, they are only infants. Prosecutions should ensue. Imagine dumping kids on the side of the road, barbaric.”

In November 2017, seven bin bags filled with Cannabis plants were found by the side of the road in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

PC Amanda Hanusch-Moore tweeted a picture of the bulging bags with the caption: “Lost something? This was found in black bin bags last night on the A59 near Blubberhouses. If it’s yours come and speak to us at Harrogate Police station, we’re more than happy to discuss!”
