Incredible moment reckless biker does 50mph wheelie between traffic

THE terrifying moment a motorcyclist did a 50mph wheelie between lines of traffic in a busy road has been caught on camera.

The biker passes within inches of cars coming in the opposite direction – despite the risk of a head-on crash in excess of 70mph.

The reckless driving was filmed in Wigan, Greater Manchester, on Saturday afternoon.

Motorist Steve A’hearne, who usually drives with his baby in the car, wrote on Facebook: “Stupid – only a matter of time riding like that before we’ll be driving past a bunch of flowers on the roadside.”

The video shows Steve driving along the road at around 20mph with a queue of traffic in front of him and cars passing on the other side of the road.

The scrambler bike can be seen coming through the middle of the two rows with his front wheel raised for at least three seconds at an estimated 50mph.

The wheel is still off the ground as it passes Steve’s car.

Speaking today (TUES), Steve said: “I was very angry at the guy as we normally have a 15-month old baby in the car and a potential 70mph impact doesn’t bear thinking about.

“I presume its a young driver without licence, tax, MOT and insurance and if the video stops him from killing himself or others it’s worth it.”

The reaction on social media was savage, with users slating the man for his careless behaviour.

Danny Critchley said: “I live two streets away. This will be one of the little b******* who tear through our estate without lights or road tyres and are not road legal.”

Grant Lyon said: “Hopefully he’ll wrap it round a tree and not a family with kids.”

Mark Boyden said: “Hopefully his family know his favourite flower.”

Another added: “Natural selection, leave them to it.”

Neil Greig from IAMRoadsmart said: “This is really dangerous and selfish behaviour. No one can be in full control of a motorbike when doing a wheelie in a city street and they are putting themselves and others at high risk.

“Anyone who behaves like this should think about the fear and stress they are causing to other road users around them.”
