St Mirren striker Gavin Reilly insists Lewis Morgan has it all, so he’s not surprised that Celtic have been linked with his team-mate.

Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers is said to be ready to step up his interest in the Scotland Under-21 internationalist when the January transfer window opens.

And former Hearts marksman Reilly insists the ten-goal attacking midfielder, who was the subject of a failed £200,000 bid from English Championship side Burton Albion during the summer, is the best young player he has shared a dressing room with.

He said: “I’m not surprised at all, I’m sure if Celtic are involved then there will be a lot of other teams looking at him as well because he’s been fantastic so far this season.

“For a guy at such a young age to play as well as he has this season is brilliant.

“He is the best player I’ve ever played with that’s got the ability to do things with both feet, I think he could take corners with both his left and right foot.

“It’s credit to him because he’s constantly out working and practicing on his weaker side.

“He has pace, has the quality to put the ball in the box and score goals, for someone of such a young age – it’s brilliant.

“He won’t let it go to his head, he will know himself there’s teams interested but he’s just concentrating on football.

“He could have gone in the summer but it was maybe best staying here and playing another 30-odd games in the Championship and making himself even better.

“He is an intelligent guy and I think he knows it was not right for him to move down to England in the last window and for him to stay.”

With Jack Ross’ side only a point adrift of Dundee United at the Championship summit, Reilly is hoping the club can come to an arrangement to keep the 21-year-old beyond January.

He added: “His assists and goals have been great for us. He has played a massive part in what we’ve done this season, his stats for goals and assists have been brilliant and you don’t want to think about him leaving.

“I know the gaffer will be planning ahead if the worst case scenario is that he goes but it would be good to keep him until the end of the season, even if he is loaned back to us.”
