CRAIG SIBBALD is determined to help Falkirk win promotion back to the Premiership before sorting out his future.

The Bairns midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and has been offered fresh terms to stay with his boyhood heroes.

After watching team-mates such as Stephen Kingsley, Jay Fulton and Blair Alston leave in recent times, the 21-year-old could decide it is time to move on this summer.

However, the club’s top scorer would love one of the options on the table to be a Premiership campaign with Falkirk.

Sibbald said: “Obviously, everyone wants to play at the highest level possible. That’s my goal as well.

“The players who have left here have done very well and hopefully one day I can do the same.

“But I’ve put my contract situation to the back of my mind; I’ve not really spoken about it to anybody.

“I’m just focusing on what’s in front of me just now and that’s playing with Falkirk.

“I want to try to get us promoted.

“It would be a good scenario if I could stay and play with Falkirk in the Premiership.

“That’s been my goal for a while, so I would be happy with that.”

IMPORTANT

Falkirk travel to face bitter rivals Dunfermline on Saturday sitting in second spot, with a one-point advantage over Dundee United and a three-point gap to Morton going into the final three games of the league season.

The Championship title might have slipped away but Peter Houston’s men know they will have a shot at promotion via the play-offs.

And, after last year’s defeat in the final to Kilmarnock, Sibbald is hoping to repeat their runners-up finish of 12 months ago to give them the best chance of going up this time.

He added: “We’re still second, so we need to try to stay there and we know if we get three wins we’ll do that. It’s in our own hands now.

“Second place is crucial. It’s a lot harder playing those two extra games, so it’s definitely important to try to get second and make it easier for the play-offs.

“I can imagine Dunfermline won’t be wanting us to go up, so it will be a tough game against them, but we’re looking forward to it.”
