Aberdeen’s eagerly-awaited visit of Rangers on Sunday could be watched by the Dons’ biggest crowd of the season after the club announced that over 18,000 tickets have already been sold for the match.
Derek McInnes’ side will attempt to strengthen their grip on second place in the Premiership when they host their Govan counterparts this weekend, and the magnitude of the clash has caught the imagination of Dons fans.
Some 19,263 supporters watched Aberdeen beat Rangers 2-1 last September after Jonny Hayes and James Maddison scored either side of an Andrew Halliday penalty, while 17,105 attended Celtic’s narrow 1-0 victory a month later.
After overcoming Inverness on Wednesday, Aberdeen will attempt to make it 11 home wins in a row against Pedro Caixinha’s side.
An Aberdeen spokesperson said: “Over 18,000 tickets have been sold so far for this match. Tickets for this match are available now for supporters with 1+ Loyalty Points.
“You can purchase tickets online, 24 hours a day via afc.co.uk/eTickets, by visiting the Pittodrie Ticket Office or by calling 01224 63 1903.”
