SCOTLAND footballer Chris Martin has recorded his own video tribute to the fan who got a tattoo dedicated to him on his bottom.
Callum Strang, 22, got a tattoo featuring the big striker’s name after he had tweeted his disgust at Gordon Strachan’s decision to bring Martin off the bench against Slovenia on Sunday night.
As the Scots chased a late winner, Callum tweeted: “Chris Martin coming on. Strachan playing for a draw again. If he scores the winner I’ll get Viva la Vida tattooed on my a**e #Coldplay.”
Much to the landscape gardener’s amazement, Martin scored an 88th minute winner and true to his word, Callum got the tattoo yesterday morning (TUE).
And now, on-loan Fulham striker Martin has recorded his own video message for his new fan which was show on STV Edinburgh last night (TUE).
Standing on a golf course, Martin says: “Callum, Chris Martin here. Not that one unfortunately.
“Just want to say fair play for going through with the tattoo, you’re a much braver man than me.
“I dread to think what the next challenge will be if I manage to get a goal against England. Viva La Vida mate.”
Callum, who himself was on the sofa on the channel’s ‘Live at Five’ show said the message was “perfect”.
When presenter Ewen Cameron asked what he’s got lined up if Martin scores against England, Callum replied: “I’ve run out of Coldplay lyrics so i’m going to have to get him to send me a selfie.
“I’ll get the portrait on my back or something like that.”
Callum got the inking in front of his laughing colleagues and boss yesterday (TUE) who had decided to start work later.
The tattoo, done at the Crossroads Tattoo Studio in Dunfermline, Fife, reads: “Chris Martin, Viva La Vida, 1-0, 26/03/17,” on his right bumcheek.”
Scotland kept their slim qualification hopes for the World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Slovenia at Hampden Park thanks to Martin’s late goal.
Gordon Strachan’s men now look forward to a clash on June 10 against group leaders England, who won the reverse fixture 3-0 last November at Wembley.
