A HEARTBREAKING Christmas letter from a young boy to his dead father “in Heaven” has been found in a field – still attached to a deflated balloon.
The poignant wish list from the unknown youngster, who is currently in foster care, tells how he misses his father and asks if he is safe up in heaven.
Tragically, the little boy goes on to say how his dream would be for his dad to leave him a personal note under his pillow.
Surrounded by love heart drawings, the football fan then adds a Christmas list including a football and net.
Stuart McColl, 30, discovered the letter rolled up and attached to a blue sparkly balloon while out walking his dog near Balmule House in Dunfermline, Fife on Monday.
The photographer from Cupar, Fife shared an image of the letter on Facebook sparking a massive social media response.
And many locals have even offered to buy everything on the little boys Christmas list – if the public is able to track him down.
The full letter read: “Hi dad, just writing you a letter to tell you I’m missing you and tell you news!
“I’m sure you know I’m in foster care ‘cause mom is sick and my ear is blocked from Monday.
“Tomorrow we’re leaving.
“I really miss school and you. I know are up in heaven but are you safe?
“Oh ya before I go here’s my dream and xmas list.
“My dream is for you my daddy to put under my pillow that you wrote.
“My xmas list: boots/studs, Astros, rebounder net, new Premier League ball, Real Madrid kit.
“Bye daddy I love you.”
Stuart said: “Sadly we’ve not had any leads yet. It didn’t have a name or even a location so I know it’s pretty ambitious to try and find the little boy. It could even be from the local area but I don’t know.
“I was just taking the dog for a walk and spotted this bright blue sparkly thing.
“I thought it was a bit of rubbish and went to pick it up and realised it was a burst helium balloon with a little letter rolled up, attached to it.
“It was just heartbreaking and sad to read, I couldn’t just ignore it, so I put a post on Facebook to see if we could find who wrote it.
“So many people have shared it online with many actually posting it on foster care groups too so hopefully somebody we can find him.
“Even if we don’t, it’s touched a lot of people but I hope we can track him down as there’s been people coming forward to help him get the presents he wants.
“I’m thinking of setting up a fundraising page since seeing the reaction it’s received, so people can help out if they can.
“If we don’t find the little boy we could then just donate the money to foster charities, but I’m hopeful.”
Around 10,000 people have shared Stuart’s post while dozens have taken to social media to leave messages of support.
Dunfermline based club, Dunloch Junior FC said: “ Duloch Juniors FC are keen to provide some, if not all of the gifts if the child is found.”
Nikki Perry wrote: “Bless him, as a foster carer this is all so real.
Gaynor Evans said: “Hope you find who wrote the letter, very sad indeed.”
