Albion Rovers chairman Ronnie Boyd admits the club are considering moving their lucrative Scottish Cup clash with Celtic away from Clifonhill due to safety concerns.
The part-timers set up a dream fourth round tie with Brendan Rodgers’ side after Calum Ferguson notched an injury-time winner to beat Queen of the South 2-1 on Tuesday.
But Boyd admits the Wee Rovers are considering a change of venue for the match, which is due to take place on the weekend of January 21/22, over crowd safety. Cliftonhill has a 1,500 capacity.
Boyd admits the match could be moved to Hamilton’s New Douglas Park, a ground they used in 2014 in a 2-0 Scottish Cup reply defeat to Rangers, or Motherwell’s Fir Park.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “They have to be options.
”We would love to play it here but we have to look at the safety of fans.”
