Lorraine Kelly brands FIFA “choobs” over Poppy row

LORRAINE Kelly has branded FIFA a “bunch of choobs” over the Armistice Day poppy row.

The TV presenter condemned the football governing body’s “breathtaking arrogance and sheer nobbishness” for starting disciplinary action against the Scottish and English FA.

Both sides wore poppy armbands during the clash at Wembley last Friday in defiance of FIFA’s ban on “political” symbols.

Lorraine tweeted today: “The breathtaking arrogance and sheer nobbishness of FIFA is a disgrace. What a bunch of choobs.”

After one user praised her for the comment, Lorraine responded: “Cheers John – they’ve really got an effing cheek.”

One follower said: “FIFA should get their own house in order before acting on what is a glorious and heartfelt expression of pride.”

And another wrote: “A bunch of ignorant idiots who don’t realise that some things are more important than football #NoRespect.”

The row intensified on the 100th anniversary of the end of the five month-long Battle of the Somme, in which more than one million soliders on both sides – 420,000 of them British – were killed or wounded.

It is unknown how long football fans will have to wait to hear the outcome of the investigation from FIFA.

However, punishments could include fines or even points deductions in the World Cup qualifying group.
