JAMES McDonaugh insists he was ’embarrassed’ to see pictures of his wild celebrations during Falkirk’s derby win over Dunfermline.
But the Bairns number two admits he makes no apology for getting carried away by Saturday’s 2-1 victory.
McDonaugh came through the ranks as a coach in the youth set-up at Hibs and is well versed in the hostilities surrounding the Edinburgh derbies with Hearts.
He confesses his knowledge of Falkirk’s rivalry with Dunfermline was more sketchy.
But that did not stop Peter Houston’s assistant from whooping it up as goals from Craig Sibbald and Myles Hippolyte saw off the Fifers at the weekend.
He said: “I love derby games and I found it easy to get up for that one.
“I didn’t really know much about it, to be honest, but where I’ve come from derbies are always really important.
“I know how much the fans want you to win your derbies. You can’t win them all but that’s one thing they’ll look at come the end of the season or when they’re discussing how well you’re doing.

“If you win your derbies you get a plus point right away. It was a good one to win and I think we deserved it.
“The club photographer was showing me photos with me in the background when Sibbs scored and my whole body was off the ground when we scored.
“It was quite embarrassing – but I loved it, I really loved it.
“The build-up before the game and the fans made it just a wee bit extra special.”
