Kind-hearted former Scotland striker Duncan Ferguson has donated a total of £65,000 to Everton’s official charity.
The Toffees’ charity, Everton in the Community, has benefited from that amount after the 44-year-old pledged a further £20,000 this week from the proceeds of his testimonial match against Villarreal last summer.
One-time Dundee United and Rangers marksman Ferguson became an Everton legend after playing for the club for a decade either side of a spell at Newcastle United.
Ferguson, who is now a first team coach at Goodison Park, said: “It’s been brilliant, all thanks to the Everton fans and all thanks to the testimonial committee really.
“We have donated £65,000 to Everton in the Community but there have been other donations as well.
Speaking to Everton TV, he added: “It’s a worthy cause, I’ll support them and the testimonial committee will support them as much as we can.”
