Ayr United have been forced to defend their new strip again – this time over its cost.
The club have explained the reasons for the new adult kit setting fans back £55, which is £10 more than last season.
The kids top is priced at £45, while the full adult strip with shorts and socks comes in at £91.
The jersey has already made headlines after the Championship newcomers came under fire for using a topless model to publicise their new kit.
Glamour model Ava Sovisl was pictured last week with the new strip painted on her naked body.
SFA Compliance Officer Tony McGlennan is said to be looking into whether the Honest Men are guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.
Defending the cost of the kit, an Ayr statement read: “We are aware that there are some questions regarding the price increase in the top compared to last season’s.
“The reason for the increase is that this season the club have chosen a stunning bespoke kit that is far more expensive than last year’s home top.
“We received a large amount of complaints last season about the quality of the home top and that was part of the reason for choosing this high end top.
“There are two ways or receiving a 10 per cent discount on the top bringing the cost down to £49.50.
“Being a member of our 5 star lottery entitles you to the discount, as does being a supporters club member.”
