A TERRIFYING new marine monster has been discovered in Scotland – the pitta shark.
Divers at Basking Shark Scotland came across the formidable animal after popping out for lunch.
The team, based in Oban, Argyll and Bute, had bought some pitta bread to snack on throughout the day.
But when they opened the packet they were met with the horrifying beast.
A picture, titled “Ever tried a basking shark pitta?”, shows fearless head guide Luke Saddler holding the creature in his hands, with its mouth gaping wide open.
It bears strong resemblance to the 40-ft long basking sharks the divers spend all day searching for in the waters off Scotland’s west coast.
Luke said: “It was literally a spur-of-the-moment snack idea.”
