Army cadet centre trashed

VANDALS have trashed an Army Cadet centre, smashing holes through walls, and breaking equipment worth thousands of pounds.

The vandals also stole a number of personal items.

The thugs targeted the B Troop Royal Artillery force in Drumchapel, Glasgow, on Monday afternoon.

During the rampage the vandals also stole a number of personal items belonging to young cadets including mobile phones and Kindles.

And televisions and DVD players that the group had paid for by fundraising were damaged using tinned cans.

Official documents and files were also left strewn across the office floor in the midst of the wreckage.

Neither the police nor Army Cadets were able to comment on whether weapons were kept in the building.

Police attended following the break-in and valued that approximately £3,000 worth of damage had been made to the building.

An Army Cadet shared images on her Facebook page on Tuesday evening showing the extent of the destruction.

She wrote: “I am looking for your help. Yesterday my Troops (B Troop RA, Drumchapel) hall was broken into and a fair bit of damage was done to the building inside and out.

“They wrecked our televisions by hitting them with juice cans, DVD players are damaged and had stolen phones, a kindle and more.

“The cadets worked hard by doing numerous bag-packs and different fundraising so that we could purchase these “luxuries” for the hall.

“Now we have to replace the damaged equipment to ensure that the cadets aren’t losing out.

“Where I need help is by spreading the word to see if these scumbags can be identified and reported to Drumchapel police station.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 1720 hours on Monday 7 March 2016, police were called to a report of a housebreaking at an Army Cadet Hall near to Kinfauns Drive in Drumchapel.

“Officers attended and it was discovered that a number of items had been stolen.

“An estimated £3000 worth of damage was also caused to the building.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact officers at Drumchapel Police Office on 101.”
