Blair Alston insists he will not allow uncertainty over his future distract him from chasing Falkirk’s end-of-season goal of promotion.
St Johnstone have told the Bairns they intend holding talks with the midfielder over a deal for next term as his current deal winds down.
The 23-year-old opened the scoring in Falkirk’s 2-2 draw with Raith Rovers but, after James Craigen had cancelled out the lead almost instantly, and David McCracken had restored their lead, Mark Stewart snatched a point for the Fifers.
However, Alston is confident he will not allow the speculation to affect his own performances as the Bairns seek promotion back to the top-flight.
“If there’s clubs linked with me then it means I’m doing well,” he said. “But my focus is on trying to do well at Falkirk.
“If we can get out of this league, which is ultimately what we’re aiming for, then it looks great for me and the club. That’s what we’re going for at the moment.
Irrelevant
“It’s okay clubs saying they’re interested or they want to speak to you and stuff, but at the end of the day I’m contracted here and this is where I’m going to play.
“Until something’s different then it’s almost irrelevant who’s come in for you or who’s talking to you.
“Here’s where it matters at the moment and hopefully we can kick on and try and get promoted.
“It’s something that I don’t try and think about or deal with. It’s not really anything to do with me. If I start thinking that I’m going here or going there, or not going anywhere, then it’s only going to play on my mind.
“At the end of the day, here’s where I’m playing and that’s how it is at the moment.
“Somebody else can deal with it, not me.”
