Raith Rovers skipper Jason Thomson will undergo a scan today as he seeks the green light to return to training after breaking a bone in his back.
The former Hearts defender sustained the nightmare injury in the 3-0 defeat to Livingston on October 31 and has been sidelined ever since.
The 28-year-old has been just one player on a lengthy injury list being endured by Rovers, who have remarkably still managed to keep themselves in fourth spot in the Championship table.
However, if the full-back gets the go-ahead when he meets with a specialist on Monday to assess today’s tests, he could return to training next week with a view to a welcome first-team comeback next month.
Manager Ray McKinnon said: “Jason has been out for quite a while now but we’re keeping our fingers crossed he’ll get the all-clear to get back to training next week.
“He’s got a scan in Edinburgh on Wednesday and a meeting with the specialist on Monday, and hopefully then he can get back training.
“He’ll need to be careful when he does get back and it will take a few weeks, but it would be a big boost if we could get him back.”
