BOOKIES reckon former First Minister Alex Salmond would floor US Presidential candidate Donald Trump if the two met in the boxing ring.
The heavyweight political pair have been feuding since December when Trump lost a battle to prevent a windfarm being built near one of his Aberdeenshire golf courses.
At the time Salmond accused Trump of damaging the economy, calling him a “three time loser”- but Trump was quick to hit back, branding the former SNP leader “a has-been and totally irrelevant.”
The war of words escalated on Wednesday when Salmond appeared on radio – saying Trump should be banned from the UK for his opinions on muslims and accusing him of wearing a toupee.
Responding once again Trump took a jab at Salmond – calling him “an embarrassment to Scotland.”
As the battle has escalated bookies Ladbrokes have now calculated the odds for who would win in a dustup between the arch enemies – and it seems as though Salmond is likely to come out on top.
Ladbrokes have made Salmond the 1/2 favourite to win the match – whilst Donald Trump has been given the far longer odds of just 6/4.
But there is bad news for Trump haters – as they have also offered high 1/2 odds that Salmond will visit the UK this year – and 1/4 odds that he will be the next president of the US.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Along with most of the country we’d pay good money to see these two political heavyweights step into the ring.
“If the fight did go ahead, Salmond would be a strong favourite to end the argument with Trump once and for all.”
