Locals slam west end restaurant for reportedly leaving street filthy with “rats now in attendance”

LOCALS have been left frustrated with the state of their street after a restaurant moved in and has reportedly left the streets covered in rubbish.

Six by Nico on Charlotte Lane, Edinburgh, moved into the area last year and since then, its rubbish disposal issue has allegedly gotten so bad that rats began to show up.

Locals have seemingly been left at their wits’ end, to the point that they have considered contacting the council to help.

The bins left on the street by the restaurant staff go against the council’s rules, despite there being no room inside the premises for them.

With dozens of them left on the street, rubbish inevitably has spilled out, covering the street in food waste.

Locals have complained about the smell, the mess and more recently the alleged arrival of rats feasting on the leftovers.

Despite this, there has reportedly been no action over the past six months by the restaurant to address the issue.

One local had enough and yesterday asked for advice on social media, claiming: “Six by Nico has ruined Charlotte Lane. Ever since they opened, they’ve been making a mess.

“There are an army of bins yet somehow, they are always overflowing.

“Fish boxes are left behind the bins, the smell is often dreadful – they never fully cleaned up their mess from the first spill they had six months ago, the drains are blocked so the street now floods.

“To top it all off, rats are now in attendance.

“What can be done? How are they even allowed 18+ bins on the street?”

Advice received from dozens of other locals suggested complaining to the council in the hopes of having enforcement officers show up.

Some suggested calling environmental health and others commented claiming the restaurant was poorly run.

Six by Nico has been contacted for comment.
