LOCALS have been left concerned after spotting clouds of green smoke seemingly coming from Edinburgh Castle.
Despite contentions that the castle was passing gas the smoke was revealed to be part of the Tour De France.
Seen yesterday the large cloud of green smoke pouring from the castle was purposefully released as part of the announcement of the Tour De France grand depart.
The men’s Tour de France was announced to be returning to Britain in July 2027 with a spectacular city centre Grand Départ in Edinburgh.
The announcement was made at the castle, and green smoke was released as part of the ceremony.
Seen from across the city locals who had not heard the news were baffled by the cloud of smoke.
Many believed a gas had been released from the castle with some joking that the castle itself had “farted”.
One user shared an image of the smoke cloud to social media yesterday and asked: “Why’s the castle farting?”
The post received over 55 likes and a slew of comments from locals and social media users piling in on the joke.
One user joked: “A new pope has been elected.”
Another replied: “Part of the Tour De France depart announcement.”
A third said: “Never mind the castle smoke. Look at the state of that smog.”
Another commented: “I live in Leith I know what Haar looks like. It’s not brown.”
