Spate of political vandalism continues with sign plastered on wall in Leith

A SPATE of politically motivated vandalism in Edinburgh has continued with a sign made of coloured tape left plastered across a wall.

The vandalism in Leith was spotted yesterday just a day after posters were plastered across bus stops in the same area.

The sign, made of bright red coloured tape, was put up by an unknown individual expressing upset at the government.

It reads, “They have money for wars but not for the poor” in block capital letters, standing out starkly against the bricks.

After it was spotted, a local snapped a picture of it and shared it to social media for others to see.

Their post reads: “An interesting message has appeared in Leith this week.”

It has since received over 540 likes and more than two dozen comments from locals and social media users.

The majority of those commenting appear to be in support of the vandalism and its message.

One user wrote: “Typical governments, wish we had a modern-day Guy Fawkes to get rid of the lot of the corrupt bar stewards.”

Another commented: “A Tupac quote from the 90s, history constantly repeating itself.”

A third said: “I wish it weren’t so true.”

Another added: “More of this is needed, everywhere.”

A fifth replied: “You got what you vote for.”
