SCOTTISH business Bayne’s The Family Bakers is celebrating its 70th anniversary with the introduction of a new animated character, Baynesy.

Created in collaboration with leading creative agency Lewis and Tayburn, Baynesy is the new mascot for the company, aimed at embodying the warmth and heritage of Bayne’s while adding a playful twist to the milestone celebration.

Bayne’s has grown into a trusted household name, with 70 shops across Scotland and he’ll be available to see in every shop.

The development of Baynesy was a result of a close partnership between Bayne’s, Lewis and Tayburn.

John Bayne, joint managing director of Bayne’s The Family Bakers, said: “As we celebrate 70 incredible years, we wanted to create something special and memorable for our customers – and Baynesy does just that.

“He represents the heart and soul of Bayne’s: friendly, fun, and all about the joy of great-tasting Scottish baking.

“We’re thrilled to have worked with Lewis and Tayburn to bring this character to life, and we can’t wait for everyone to meet him.

“Keep an eye out for Baynesy over the coming months where you’ll be able to spot him on our stickers, posters, website and our social media.”

Utilising advanced animation techniques, the teams have ensured that Baynesy is more than just a static figure – he’s a lively and interactive presence designed to evolve with Bayne’s brand identity.

Ricky Stevens, creative director at Tayburn said: “We wanted to ensure that Baynesy not only reflected the rich heritage of Bayne’s but also had a fresh, digital-first personality that could evolve with the brand.

“We understand that brand characters create warm emotive connections with the audience which increases brand recall, so this was a big part of our thinking behind Baynesy.

“Seeing him come to life across multiple platforms is a testament to the power of strong storytelling and innovative design. We hope customers will love him as much as we do.

As part of the wider 70th-anniversary celebrations, Bayne’s has also marked this milestone with the grand opening of its 70th shop at Inveralmond Retail Park in Perth – a significant achievement that reflects the brand’s continued expansion and enduring popularity.
