The company based in Inverness are looking to take on numerous renewable energy contracts

AURORA Energy Services has secured several green energy contracts, including one for a Scottish hydroelectric power station.

The contracts worth £3m will provide design, procurement, engineering, fabrication and installation services and are a groundbreaking thermal energy storage project.

They have been commissioned by a significant wind farm operator to survey multiple turbines located across the UK.

Utilising years of project delivery experience, the specialist team is capitalising on transferable skills and technologies traditionally used in the oil and gas sector – particularly digital laser scanning – to win significant renewable energy projects.

Aurora Energy Services chief operating officer Tom Smith said: “The take up by existing and new clients of our Integrated Services offering has surpassed expectations and underlines the high level of demand for cost-effective full lifecycle services in the energy sector.”

Aurora is also providing laser scanning, engineering, fabrication, and construction of structural and piping equipment at a thermal energy storage facility in the Central Belt.

A global wind farm operator has also commissioned the company to survey turbines, provide a root cause analysis, and design and install a retrofit solution.

Tom Smith added: “Our heritage and strengths are based on working in the oil and gas sector.

“We continue to work with Operators, including Repsol, Ithaca and CNOOC, while supporting the transition to green energies by pivoting that experience across the entire renewables space, as demonstrated by these recent awards for hydropower, thermal energy and wind projects.

“Josh and Kane Winton, who head up our integrated services division, have done a remarkable job in such a short space of time, and they are focused on further recruitment to ensure we can deliver a leaner, more agile, full lifecycle offering than is currently available in the market.”

Kane Winton added, “Project awards for laser scanning and EPC services across hydropower, wind power, alternative energy storage, oil and gas, and decommissioning underline the versatility of our offering and show a real appetite for our in-house capabilities and a leaner approach with a more competitive cost base.

“We had a busy close to 2024 with over 60 people on-site delivering construction and laser scanning services, which has continued into Q1.

“Our onshore team continues to grow with recent key hires, including Chris Garden and Richard Anderson, both highly skilled and experienced professionals, who will ensure we continue to scale our business whilst maintaining our focus on delivery.”
