A POPULAR Edinburgh burger restaurant has gone into liquidation, closing its doors without notice – but is still accepting bookings from diners.
Butta Burger, a restaurant on Lister Square in the city centre, was shut down with no notice after the operating company Ghost Gastro went into “interim liquidation”.
Despite this, the restaurant appears to still be accepting bookings at the closed-down location prompting a number of angry reviews from customers as a result.
Ghost Gastro owns and operates several other dining locations across the Scots capital, each of which look to also be closing down.

A physical sign has been put up in the window of Butta Burger for the attention of customers who made reservations only to be disappointed on arrival.
It reads: “Ghost Gastro Ltd – in interim liquidation.
“Callum Angus Carmichael of FRP Advisory has been appointed as interim liquidator of Ghost Gastro Limited by interlocutor of the sheriff at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
“Dated 6 February 2025.
“Should you require access to the premises or have a claim in the liquidation please contact FRP advisory.”
The restaurant gave no warning of their liquidation and continues to accept bookings from would-be customers.
Several have left enraged reviews after having their time wasted, with one writing: “Despite letting me book and making me confirm my reservation via [booking service] OpenTable 24hrs in advance, this place is permanently closed. Not sure how this can happen.”
Another angry customer said: “This business has closed down.
“We walked a considerable distance to get there from our hotel in the rain only to find all the lights off and a notice on the door.
“Please ensure it is taken off the internet to prevent this happening other people.”
Anda third said: “Went into liquidation, was given no notice or contact [that] this happened after I made the booking.”
Dozens of angry reviews for the now closed restaurant can be found online with no further information being provided by Ghost Gastro.
