EDINBURGH is set to welcome its first Popeyes as the famous American fast-food joint prepares to open in the city centre.
The Popeyes store will open on Princes Street in the coming months with locals spotting signs put up in the currently vacant retail space.
The chicken restaurant chains, which originates from New Orleans, Louisiana, is known globally for its various fried chicken items.
The store is due to open in spring with work on the restaurant already underway at the location of a former bank.

The Halifax that used to operate from the space closed down last year with Popeyes bagging the premises not long after.
Residents spotted signs being plastered across the windows yesterday indicating the imminent opening.
Popeyes are hoping to launch more than 45 restaurants across the UK throughout 2025 with the Princes Street location being the third to open in Scotland.
Despite the chain’s expansion across the country, Edinburgh locals appear to be less than impressed with Princes Street’s latest addition.
Yesterday a local shared an image of the Popeyes with the caption: “Popeyes coming to Princes Street.”
It received over 170 likes and more than 150 comments from social media users with a host of negative reactions.
One user wrote: “That whole street is an embarrassment. I mean when you step off the train the first thing you see is mess, closed shops and tacky ones.
“I mean what’s even happening with the building that Topshop was in?”
Another replied: “Yes. Just what we need. More American businesses. Woo.”
A third sarcastically said: “Shame, we could have really used another tartan tat shop there.”
Another added: “God, how awful.”
A fifth commented: “The red beans and rice is the sodium enriched nutrition I need.”
