AS part of BBC Radio 1’s 2025 Dance Awards, Cowgate’s Sneaky Pete’s has been nominated for Best Venue in the UK and Europe.
The compact club stands alongside nine other international venues, including two in Ibiza and two in London.
The popular venue hosts a range of dance nights every week, with recurring favourites such as Hot Mess and Postal featured alongside standalone sets by trending DJs.
The grassroots venue has spoken of being “blown away” to be included among the bigger names in the category.
The BBC Radio 1 Dance Awards celebrate the past year in dance music and consist of four categories including Best UK Clubbing Event, Best Dance Festival, and Best Record Label.
Voting lasts just one week, opening last week and closing this Friday.
The best venue category seeks to find the one place at the “forefront of dance music over the last year”.
Winners of all four categories will be announced on Radio 1 Dance from 6pm on Friday 21 February.
Sneaky Pete’s, located in the bustling Cowgate area, is competing against the likes of Fabric in London, and Amnesia in Ibiza, for a chance at top spot.
Open every night, the venue states they are for “music fans of all identities across gender, disability and race”.
They are a member of the Music Venues Alliance, an association of grassroots venues that aims to protect the music scene in the UK.
Edinburgh day festival FLY Open Air, taking place in Princes Street Gardens every year, is also nominated for best dance festival in the UK and Europe.
The festival is nominated alongside Boomtown, Creamfields, and Manchester’s Parklife.
Another Edinburgh representative, Barry Can’t Swim, is in the running for Best UK Clubbing Event, for his set at The Warehouse Project in Manchester last year.
Sneaky Pete’s posted to social media over the weekend, announcing their nomination and saying: “Ahhh (sic) we’ve been shortlisted for Best Venue (UK & Europe) at the Radio 1 Dance Awards 2025.
“This wouldn’t happen without us having the absolute best crowds (you) who make Sneaks (sic) what it is, so if you love coming down, please vote for us – link in bio.
“We’re up against some huge names, so we’re absolutely blown away to be included
“Voting closes on 14 February at 8pm on the Radio 1 website.”
