LOCALS have been left tickled by a bizarre charity shop find, as industrial equipment worth almost £3,000 is up for sale in Edinburgh.
The discovery was made by one local yesterday in the Bethany Christian Trust shop in the Stockbridge area of the Scots capital.
The large, blue industrial machine is a Polimax dust and extraction polisher and usually costs a whopping £2,875 but is being sold by the charity shop for £2,200.
The second-hand machinery, which weighs 125kg, is used in the jewellery-making process, extracting dirty and dusty air and polishing metal surfaces.
It has a 0.5 horsepower extraction motor and a 1.5 horsepower polishing motor and is designed for continuous use in a clean environment.
It creates a whopping 70db at a one metre distance, making it surely the loudest item in the charity shop.
The item is described by retailers as: “A robust free-standing unit for continuous running and a clean environment. Features two adjustable/removable cowls.
“Supplied with two dust bags and a catchment tray with bag shaker.
“Maximum mop Ø200mm. Extraction motor 0.5HP. Polishing motor 1.5HP. Rate of extraction 800M³/hour.

“Please Note: Ideally dust extractors should be vented to outside area to eliminate residual dust.”
The strange charity shop find was discovered yesterday and shared to social media with the caption: “Truly Edinburgh charity shops are a repository of the unusual.”
The post has received over 60 likes and more than two dozen comments from locals and social media users.
One user wrote: “Someone’s going to start a side hustle with that. I would, but my wife wouldn’t allow it in the house.”
Another replied: “I don’t know why I want this, but I do.”
