EDINBURGH locals have until the end of this week to propose feedback on noise levels surrounding the airport.
Edinburgh Airport is drafting their Noise Action Plan (NAP), which aims to manage and mitigate noise from their operations.
They have called on local communities to help them enhance and improve their plan, for which responses will be considered after the end of this month.
Locals have until Friday to have their say, and have been provided with consultation materials, factsheets, and maps, as well as answers to over 20 FAQs.
Edinburgh Airport reminded locals on social media yesterday: “Less than one week left to have your say on our draft Noise Action Plan 2024 – 2028.
“The plan sets out how we plan to manage noise caused by aviation operations, and support communities affected.
“We’d like to hear your thoughts”.
Regulations require airports with over 50,000 movements a year to produce a noise action plan every five years.
Consultation on the NAP has taken place since November and will close to responses on Friday.
The airport has said that once responses are incorporated into the plan, the NAP will be finalised and put in place until 2028.
Their proposals include influencing planning policy to minimise the number of noise sensitive development around the airport, and reducing aircraft noise at the source.
They state: “We recognise that noise remains a challenge for Edinburgh Airport and we will continue to prioritise and focus our management and mitigation of noise on areas within the highest noise contours as detailed within our proposed new insulation scheme and updated action table.”
They also propose a new insulation scheme, bringing properties within Cramond into the catchment area for the first time.
Locals are given the chance to rank the airport’s proposals on a scale from excellent to poor, and to give reasons for why they do so.
