East Lothian woman left appalled after crass “not disabled, just a c**t” sticker is left on her disabled fathers’ car

AN East Lothian woman has been left appalled after discovering a vile sticker on her disabled father’s car accusing him of faking his disability.

After parking in a disabled spot in the car park of Iceland in Musselburgh, East Lothian, Leanne Scott returned to the car her father and her were using to find the appalling sticker on the window.

The sticker reads “not disabled just a c**t” with the C in the final word styled as the symbol of a wheelchair user.

Leanne was shocked beyond belief to discover the sticker on the car, failing to understand how the unidentified individual that left it didn’t notice the blue badge her father uses.

Leanne pointed out that her 71-year-old father’s wheelchair was in the car and in plain view, leaving her baffled as to why the rude sticker was left on her window.

She shared an image of the appalling sticker to social media yesterday and asked people to think before they act.

Her post was captioned: “Very mature adults out there these days eh. What happened to not all disabilities are visible.

“And to the know in the car park at Iceland/home bargains Musselburgh, I think you should check the facts before you act.

“My dad is disabled and has a badge (if you cared to check), not that we have to justify to anyone.

“If you cared to even look in the window where you put the sticker, you would see the wheelchair.”

It has since received over 125 likes and more than 40 comments from shocked locals and social media users.

One wrote: “That’s a prime example of The Caring Society, and why did they not have the courage to stay and face you?”

Another replied: “That’s awful. Yes, there are a number of young couples who use the bays too and just don’t give a hoot.”

A third said: “Please report this to the police if you haven’t already, that’s absolutely shocking I’m so sorry you had to deal with that.”

Another commented: “That’s a disgrace. I have a badge, I am young-ish and I have hidden disabilities. some people just need punched in the face repeatedly.”

A fifth added: “Absolutely vile. So many ignorant people going about.”

Speaking today Leanne said: “It is disgusting behaviour. That was the first time he had been out to a shop since November.

“He’s 71, he just had major surgery in November to save his leg, this happened in Musselburgh at Home Bargains. It was around 5:30pm on Saturday.

“Not all disabilities are visible [and] in this day and age I would think that [the] small-mindedness of some people would have changed.

“My dad doesn’t drive anymore so relies on his family to do almost everything for him. It was my brother-in-law that had taken him shopping on Saturday to get my dad out.

“This will set us back with my dad with getting him out. He is a wheelchair user but hates using it because he thinks people judge. Looks like he’s not wrong.

“To think that someone has gone out their way to sit and watch vulnerable people and to do this makes me sick.

“I hope the person that has done this, which is obviously not the first time, feels extremely proud of themselves for picking on vulnerable people.

“We haven’t reported it yet, but I will be.”
