NEW toilets are set to be added to three parks in Edinburgh, including The Meadows, Inverleith Park, and Leith Links.
This is part of a Public Toilets in Parks project by Edinburgh City Council’s group Thriving Greenspaces.
They plan to develop a 30-year strategy to manage Edinburgh’s natural spaces sustainably.
The area around the new toilets will also be renovated with smooth pathways, seating areas, bike racks, and water taps for trees.
Works are set to begin shortly, as plans and designs have been confirmed.
Toilets in all three parks will be wheelchair accessible and have been designed in collaboration with park users and community groups.
Leith Links Activity Park posted about the project yesterday saying: “The Thriving Greenspaces team have released the landscape layout for the new public toilets planned for Leith Links as part of their ‘Public Toilets in Parks’ project.”
They went on to say: “The unit is currently under construction off-site and is due to be in place on the Links by the end of May.
“As part of the Leith Links Working Group, we were involved in the design process for the toilets and we’re incredibly excited to see the plans take another step closer to reality.
“This important facility will be the first new development in the bowling green area since the tennis courts were installed in 2013. Hopefully it’s the first of many.
