Final episode of Good Omens, starring David Tennant, to be shot in West Lothian – without creator Neil Gaiman

THE FINAL episode of fantasy TV series based on Neil Gaiman’s novel, Good Omens, has begun filming this week, despite allegations against the writer.

The 64-year-old has been accused by eight women, who claim he is guilty of sexual assault, sexual misconduct, and coercion.

Initial allegations were made on the Tortoise podcast in July last year, followed by a New York Magazine story published last week entailing claims made by eight women.

The series Good Omens, which ran for two seasons, is wrapping up with one final episode filmed in Bathgate, West Lothian – with which Gaiman has no involvement.

Both Gaiman and English author Terry Pratchett wrote Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, published in 1990.

The TV series of the same name was then developed and released on Amazon Prime Video in May 2019, and stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as representatives of Heaven and Hell.

The series was later aired weekly on BBC Two in 2020, and was midway through production on its third series before being paused due to the sexual assault allegations made against Gaiman.

In lieu of a third series, the show will end with a 90-minute episode, on which Gaiman will not be working on, though he contributed to parts of its writing.

The former writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the show has denied allegations against him, saying: “I’m far from a perfect person, but I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.”

Bathgate has also been the filming site of new series Lockerbie, which stars Colin Firth and is based on the 1988 Lockerbie Disaster that killed 270 people – including 11 Lockerbie residents – when a plane crashed into the area.

Filming will take place at Pyramids Studios, located 20 miles to the west of Edinburgh in Easter Inch, Bathgate.

Neil Gaiman’s production company, Blank Corporation, is said to no longer be involved in the show.
